December is rapidly approaching, and despite my current solo show, Transition, not even being over, I have to think the next show, which starts December 2nd. It will be in the lobby at Le Méridien Versailles hotel, and will run all the way until March 1st, 2012! “Surface”, will host smaller works than “Transition” did, with smaller pieces starting at 16″x30″.
The personal challenge for me, was to create pieces that would speak to each other, in a smaller space, that is less formal than that of a gallery. Of course, I won’t be able to pass judgment on this, until after I’ve hung the works… So let’s hope that I’ve managed to accurately visualize what is to come!
I’m very much taken with the passage of time, and a certain feeling of nostalgia. I enjoy borrowing from the past, and adding a bit of the future to it. I’m inspired by colourists such as Hans Hofmann and his former student, Wolf Kahn who now lives in Vermont, with his artist wife, Emily Mason, also a colourist (I especially love her work!). These are the voices, or more accurately, the brush strokes that inspire me!
