How to Block Facebook Apps

How many times a week, in Facebook, do I get asked to join a virtual snowball fight, or perhaps get involved in a Vampires chase, become a zombie, grow a garden, care for an aquarium, and on and on and on?... Most of the time, I add the applications, because I don't want to hurt the sender's feelings. I want my friends to know that I like them, and that includes their ideas. That said, every time I get another useless application sent my way, I cringe. Wouldn't it be nice if they just never came my way in the first place?
